ETH Zurich joins the Alliance for Digital Inclusion (ADIS)
Digital inclusion and accessibility have become an integral part of ETH Zurich. Joining the Alliance for Digital Inclusion (ADIS) is the next logical step on the path to becoming an accessible and inclusive university.
In March, ETH Zurich joined the external page Alliance for Digital Inclusion (ADIS). It joins more than 70 members, including the University of Zurich, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, SBB and Google. With its membership, ETH Zurich aims to actively shape the discussion on digital inclusion and participation and to contribute scientific perspectives to the further development of relevant standards.
This is ADIS
Digital communication channels and digital services are omnipresent in Switzerland and at ETH Zurich. However, more than 20 per cent of the population do not have the necessary skills to use digital technologies. In addition, insufficiently accessible systems and user interfaces pose a significant barrier to accessing information and online services, especially for people with disabilities.
Against this backdrop, ADIS is committed to promoting an inclusive digital society. The platform brings together experts and organisations to exchange knowledge and discuss current developments in the field of digital participation. Various specialist groups analyse technological trends and existing processes, develop guidelines for more inclusive digital offerings and support their implementation in practice.
Want to get involved?
ETH members who are committed to digital inclusion at our university are invited to join ADIS. If you are interested, please contact (Corporate Communications).
This is how ETH is organised
Corporate Communications with Manu Heim, the Unit for Teaching and Learning with Anton Bolfing and ETH Diversity with Romila Storjohann will jointly participate in ADIS and contribute to the alliance's network and specialist groups. This represents a closing of ranks on the issue of inclusion between the three domains: the Executive Board, the Rectorate and the Vice-Presidency for Personnel Development and Leadership.
ETH Zurich was already a co-organiser of the last E-Accessibility symposium and was represented by a presentation by Manu Heim on external page neurodiversity, chronic illnesses and invisible disabilities.
Brief input on digital accessibility
From the end of April, Corporate Communications will once again be serving up Accessibility Espresso in German. Further courses are available on request.
