German language courses

Course are offered at several levels of proficiency.

• Beginner (A1)
• Post-beginner (A1.2 - A2.2)
• Intermediate B level (B1.1 - B2.2)
• Proficiency C level (C.1.1 ¨C C 1.2)

You will benefit the most from a course designed for your level.

• You will receive a certificate with a mark from the Language Center if you attend classes regularly and attain a passing mark in the assessments.
• Two ECTS are awarded for a German course (intensive or semester course) upon successful completion. They will appear on your ETH transcript.
  

• Courses are held during the two weeks before the beginning of the semester.
• You are expected to attend classes regularly. If you miss the first lesson(s), inform the language center in advance:
• The course fee is CHF 160: 
  • CHF 120: course fee
  • CHF 40: course materials (see course description)
  • The amount must be paid by credit card when you enrol for the course.
• Course offer: various levels from beginners (A1) to more advanced.

General information to register

• Use the "Login Switch AAI" and your ETH login. Only use the option "I don't have Switch AAI access yet" if you have not received your ETH login yet or you encounter difficulties with the registration.
• If requested: Enter "ETH" as your "university" and the "target group" is "ETH Bachelor's and Master's students"

• These courses consist of one lesson per week (2 hours). 
• Consider that you will have to invest several hours every week for independent study.
• You are expected to attend courses regularly.
  
• Register for one German course only. On the Thursday before the start of the semester (9 a.m.), you can add more courses. 
• Lectures with exercises (large-group courses) on grammar or vocabulary:
  • Take one German course and you may also attend one of the Lectures with excercises courses. 
  • Prior enrolment in a German course is necessary.
• The course fee is CHF 100. There may be an additional charge for copies and other course materials (see course description).
